Protecting your family & your farm
Shelby Crop Insurance is a family-owned and operated business that has been serving the agricultural community for over 50 years. Our company was established in 1986 by George Vollmer, and since then, we have grown and evolved to become one of the most respected crop insurance providers in the region.
Our History
Our story began with George Vollmer, who started our company with a passion for agriculture and a commitment to helping farmers protect their crops. Over the years, our family has continued to grow and expand, with John Vollmer joining the business in 1990 and his son, Bob Vollmer, joining in 2003. Today, our team consists of Bob, his wife Tiffany, and their sons, Adam and her sister Ashley Enneking.
Our Services
At Shelby Crop Insurance, we understand the importance of crop insurance and the peace of mind it provides. As farmers ourselves, we know the value of protecting your family and your farm. Our expertise lies in providing customized crop insurance solutions that meet the unique needs of our clients. We work closely with our clients to create personalized policies that take into account factors such as weather conditions, market fluctuations, and natural disasters.
Crop Insurance Options
We offer a range of crop insurance options to suit your specific needs. Our insurance products include:
- Revenue Protection (RP): Guarantees against losses in revenue due to changes in price and yields.
- Yield Protection (YP): Insures against yield losses due to natural causes.
- Area Risk Protection (ARPI): Based on county yields and projected prices from the Chicago Board of Trade.
- Hail Coverage: An endorsement policy that pays in the event of hail, fire, and wind damage to your crop.
Replant and Prevent Plant
We understand that sometimes, despite our best efforts, crops may not thrive due to natural causes such as drought or excessive rainfall. Our replant and prevent plant policies provide financial protection in the event of crop failure or low yields. These policies enable our clients to replant or prevent planting, ensuring that their crops are protected and their farms remain productive.
Reporting a Loss
In the event of a loss, please contact our office at 812.663.6258 or your agent to report the loss. It is essential to notify us within 72 hours of discovering the damage or loss of production. Failure to do so may result in non-payment.
