Piedmont Community Health Plan (Piedmont) is a provider-sponsored health insurer located in the heart of Lynchburg, Virginia. Established over 25 years ago, Piedmont has been at the forefront of revolutionizing the healthcare industry by fostering collaboration between insurers and healthcare providers. Our extensive health insurance offerings cater to a diverse range of clients across Virginia and the United States. Our portfolio includes individual health plans, employer-owned health plans, and employer-sponsored health plans. Members can choose from three network options for access to primary care physicians, specialists, and hospitals: Centra Community (Lynchburg area), Virginia Expanded (statewide), and National Coast-to-Coast (national).

Meet Our Leadership Team

*Ryan Ziemann, Chief Executive Officer*

Ryan Ziemann brings over 25 years of experience in healthcare finance and strategic transformation to Piedmont. As our CEO, he leads the development and execution of the organization's financial strategy, overseeing finance, accounting, actuarial/underwriting, and corporate development. Before joining Piedmont, Ryan served as director of payment integrity financial reporting at Change Healthcare where he successfully led financial strategy during acquisition and integration phases. Ryan holds a bachelor's degree in mathematical sciences from DePaul University and is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA).
