Alaska Public Entity Insurance (APEI) is a unique organization dedicated to serving the public entities in Alaska. Since 1986, APEI has been committed to providing stable, affordable insurance, broad coverage, and effective risk management services to enable local governments and schools to maximize their funds for their programs and services.

Our Team
At APEI, we are proud of our diverse and experienced team of professionals who are dedicated to serving our members. Our team is led by Barbara Thurston, our Executive Director, and Carleen Mitchell, our Deputy Director. We also have a dedicated team of claims professionals, underwriters, and administrative staff who work tirelessly to ensure that our members receive the best possible service.
