The Community Insurance Information Center (CIIC) was established in 1978 as a response to the debate over redlining in the central city. Our mission remains the same today: to promote a better understanding of insurance and insurance products, identify insurance-related problems in the community, and serve as a consumer advocate. At CIIC, we believe that education is key to making informed decisions about insurance. Our education outreach efforts include providing homeownership seminars, one-on-one counseling with individual consumers, and serving as an insurance resource for non-profit counselors and local committees and boards.
Our Services
At CIIC, we offer a range of services to help individuals and families make informed decisions about their insurance needs. Our services include:
- Auto Insurance: We help answer your car insurance questions clearly and explain insurance terms in everyday language. We are committed to educating consumers about the insurance policies and coverages they buy.
- Property Insurance: We provide guidance on personal liability protection and coverage for your home and personal belongings. We remind consumers to shop around for price and value, and provide tips on how to save money on home and renters insurance.
Insurance Services
We are not a sales office, and all consumer services are provided free of charge. Our services are made possible by the Wisconsin Insurance Alliance, a consortium of every major insurance company doing business in the state. We are recognized by the state's Office of the Commissioner of Insurance as an industry consumer education agency and have their ongoing full support.
Auto Insurance
If you are a new driver or have been driving for many years, you may have questions about auto insurance. We are here to help answer your questions about car insurance clearly and explain insurance terms in everyday language. We remind consumers to shop around for price and value and provide tips on how to save money on auto insurance.
Property Insurance
Whether you own your home or rent, you need insurance to cover your personal belongings and you need personal liability protection. Additionally, homeowners need protection for their homes. A single policy can usually give you all the protection you need for your home, its contents, and personal liability coverage. Wisconsin residents already pay some of the lowest rates in the country for property insurance. Competition between insurance companies means consumers should shop around for price and value. We provide tips on how to save money on home and renters insurance.
Support
CIIC is fully funded by the Wisconsin Insurance Alliance, which is a consortium of every major insurance company doing business in the state. We are recognized by the state's Office of the Commissioner of Insurance as an industry consumer education agency and have OCI's ongoing full support.
