Our History and Legacy
The Insurance House of Myrtle Beach was founded by Terry Thorsen in 1976 and operated as a family-owned and operated business until Terry's passing in January 2023. Today, his children, Kibibi and Praise Thorsen, continue the legacy of providing exceptional service to the Myrtle Beach community.
Praise Thorsen
Praise attended Myrtle Beach High School, where he lettered four years of varsity baseball (2011-2015) and earned the 2015 Toast of the Coast Baseball Player of the Year award. He went on to pursue his college baseball career at Lander University, where he received a bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 2020 and a Master's in Business Administration and Management in 2022. Praise has spent many hours studying under the guidance of Terry Thorsen and continues to offer his expertise in insurance and provides virtual baseball coaching and consultation. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, jiu-jitsu, spending time with his dog, Banks, and working out.
Kibibi Thorsen
Kibibi attended Socastee High School, where she lettered four years of varsity softball, graduating with honors (magna cum laude) in 2013 and earning a full International Baccalaureate diploma. She went on to receive her B.A. in Business Administration and Asian Studies (magna cum laude) from Furman University in 2017 and her M.S. in Finance from W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University in 2019. Kibibi worked at Goldman Sachs in New York City for three years, advising corporate and private equity clients in the industrial space on raising capital for mergers and acquisitions. She is now located in Charleston, SC, where she enjoys walking around Colonial Lake with her Australian Shepherd puppy, Mocha, traveling the world, and trying new food.
