Midwest Insurance Marketers of America was born from a vision of providing exceptional service and support to independent agents. Founded in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1988 by Harry Garman, MWIMA has grown into a respected Managing General Agency, specializing in group and individual medical, life, disability, and senior product brokerage. Our success stems from a deep commitment to our agents, acting as their trusted partner in navigating the complexities of the insurance industry. We go above and beyond to provide comprehensive support, from resolving coverage issues and negotiating exceptions with carriers to disseminating product information, conducting product training, and offering sales and marketing assistance.

A Legacy of Excellence

Harry Garman, our founder, recognized the need for a strong liaison between clients, agents, and insurance companies. Driven by this belief and his unwavering passion for the industry, he established MWIMA to empower agents and connect them with the resources they needed to thrive. Harry's dedication extended beyond the business; he was deeply involved in the insurance community, serving as President of the Indianapolis Health Underwriters Association from 1992-1993 and past President of the State of Indiana Health Underwriters from 1995-1996. For 39 years, he dedicated his career to fostering strong relationships, advocating for his agents, and providing unparalleled service. His legacy lives on in the core values that continue to guide MWIMA today.

About Our Dedicated Team

Guided by Harry's vision, Lori Garman, Harry's wife, stepped into the role of President, bringing her own expertise in underwriting, claims, and accounting to the organization. Together, they formed a formidable team, building a business that flourished over the next three decades. Lori's commitment to exceptional customer service and her dedication to empowering agents have been instrumental in MWIMA's success. In addition to her leadership role, she is a passionate advocate for individuals with intellectual disabilities, serving on the board of a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering these individuals.

Holly Fisher, Harry's daughter, joined MWIMA after charting her own path in education. Realizing her true calling lay within the insurance industry, she followed in her father's footsteps, earning her license and quickly becoming an integral part of the MWIMA team. Now, as Principal, she guides MWIMA into its next chapter, continuing to uphold Harry's legacy of excellence and dedication.

Christy Hopper, who began her journey with MWIMA as a high school student fulfilling work-study requirements, has grown into a vital member of our team. As our Underwriting Manager, she oversees the processing of new group business, ensuring efficiency and accuracy. When she's not streamlining operations, Christy enjoys spending time with her family, boating on Lake Monroe, and cheering on her son at sporting events.

Nikki Carlisle, armed with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from the University of Indianapolis, joined MWIMA in 1999 and has become the backbone of our financial operations. As our Accounting & Commissions specialist, she manages all incoming and outgoing commission processing and payments, ensuring the smooth financial flow of our agency. Outside of work, Nikki cherishes quiet time with her husband and daughter, finding joy in simple pleasures.
